Agel comes in a convenient pocket size package, great for busy on-the-go types of people, which is everyone now days. I think I was the most impressed with an open tab that actually works. How frustrating is it to pull where it clearly states that you should and only a corner of it comes off? I really like the name Ohm, but as most of you know an Ohm actually measures electrical resistance. So I'm not really sure what idea they're trying to portray for this energy supplement.
The package says starfruit, which as stated in other reviews I don't like very much. To my delight, this wasn't an accurate description to my taste buds. It tastes more like a very strong coffee with a hint of orange flavoring. Very pleasant, certainly the best of the ultra-condensed products we've had previously (Rocket Shot, and Chaser 5-hour). Ultimately, when I'm consuming something called "severe energy", taste is a lower priority to whether it works. Keep in mind that this gel is less than 1oz. when reviewing my taste score.
I felt energized, and not just from caffeine and carbs like with many other energy supplements. To the average Joe, sitting at a desk knocking back Bawls, this probably means very little. For athletes, and health aficionados on the go, this is a small, portable, energizing drink to take seriously. Agel offers three other varieties; "Fit" for weight loss and weight maintenance, "Min" for daily vitamins and minerals, and "Exo" for antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients.
As stated above, the OHM product isn't geared toward the average Joe, and as with most serious supplements, neither is the price. At $2.50 each (available 30 for $75), this is for people serious about increasing their physical performance and mental focus. Being an average Joe, value is where Agel gets its lowest score.
I was a little skeptical about trying Ohm, because even though I know that runners have they're own vitamin rich gel that they can eat while they're running; it's still hard to not feel silly just eating a package of gel. It'd be like eating a packet of ketchup for a snack. But as I see more products like yogurt in a tube and drinkable soup, I guess it's just something that's bound to happen.
I was very excited about the idea of a star fruit flavored energy supplement, because there are certainly enough of all the other flavors. However this came out a little more like apricot preserves to me. If this were marketed as toast or biscuit topping I would definitely enjoy it more, just because the gel is thick. The flavor and consistency all say breakfast condiment to me. The package suggests chasing the gel with water, but it's not really necessary.
I think this came with a great energy boost, which I was happily surprised with because caffeine wasn't listed as an ingredient that I've found so far. Agel does have lots of vitamins including 300% of your daily value worth of B12! I'd also like to say that I think it's a great idea that more companies are offering energy supplements in smaller volume. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to drink a 16oz soda to get the amount of boost that I'd like. In those instances this small 3/4oz gel packet would be just right.
