Bomba Black Currant

A Fair & Honest Energy Drink Review

Bomba Black Currant Retail Package Description

Anytime something is given to me that is breakable I get a little worried. Bomba comes in a heavy duty glass bottle, interestingly shaped like a grenade, complete with pull top tab to open. Once I realized how thick the glass was I was relieved. We at Screaming Energy do not recommend that you test the durability of any glass or otherwise breakable item and do not assume responsibility for any injuries that may occur as a result of said tests. Bomba is a drink that I have never seen on the market and I certainly enjoyed the simplicity of the logo in the energizing blue and yellow colors. There is not too much fluff surrounding the logo, and it really lets the item sell itself.

Caffeine Addict's Bomba Black Currant Review

Bomba Black Currant Energy is awesome! Tastes like Clearly Canadian (for those who know what this tastes like) with about 3 times the flavor, and about a billion time the awesomenicity. A more accurate description of the taste would be sparkling water with about a pint of blackberries crushed into a heavenly mixture of flavor and tartness. Goes down smooth whether you're a guzzler or a sipper.

Since it looks like a grenade, I'd refrain from taking it anywhere where you might be thought a terrorist. Though the energy level is respectable, if you are questioned, you won't get charged with carrying a concealed weapon (unless you're otherwise carrying a concealed weapon, like a toothpick, spork, or pillow). There is a fairly good amount of caffeine in Bomba, Taurine is pretty low, but I'll personally take caffeine over taurine.

At $1.89, it's a dime cheaper than most 8ozish drinks, and comes in a way cooler package. Though getting the cap off the first time can be tricky, I'll give you a hint, think of the "pin" as a can top, and lift it from the opposite side with your forefinger and middle finger, the way you would a soda can lid, then pull it straight up. This will save you lost soda, and a sticky bottle. This technique does require 2 hands, so don't do it while driving, wait until you get to the traffic jam.

Energy Junkie's Bomba Black Currant Review

Aside from the wonderfully unique shape and simplistic logo, Bomba offers a new flavor of energy drink to the market. Black Currant is very nicely sweet in the beginning with a hint of tartness behind the sweet fruit flavor. As you continue the tartness intensifies depending on how fast of a drinker you are. If you have read many of my reviews you may already know that I am a fast drinker, so this beverage caught me off guard. I assumed it would be a run-of-the-mill fruit drink... sugary and sweet.. and I would drink it quickly resulting in more of a sugar buzz than energy boost. After experiencing a bit of shock from a large gulp of Black Currant I took a step back and sipped the rest of the drink. I really enjoyed the non carbonated juice, more than I had expected. Though the energy level was a bit lacking, Bomba certainly makes up for it with flavor and originality.

Black Currants are little berries that grow in Northern Europe and Asia. Currants are rich in antioxidants and contain up to four times as much vitamin C as oranges and more potassium than bananas. Once banned for their threat to the lumber industry, black currants are now a very important fruit for the various diseases it is believed to thwart including Alzheimer's Disease. Though with all this wonderful information and the benefits it will bring to many people, I wouldn't go near a black currant farm area of any of the people working the area. The plant has a distinguishable odor most commonly likened to cat urine. Fortunately the folks at Bomba already take care of that for us, and we at Screaming Energy thank you, from a distance.
