Rush Lite comes in a bright red can. This calorie free version of the Rush! in a blue can also has no carbs or sugars. I think the red makes the can appear much more energetic than the blue can.
Pretty much a lite version of the regular Rush! Energy Drink. I taste strawberry, and artificial sweetener. The thing I like about lo-carb Monster is that I can't taste the sweetener, likely because the drink doesn't taste like a particular thing. When I think about the taste of strawberries, artificial sweetener sticks out like a sore thumb. Though it tastes pretty good, given the aforementioned, I don't think it's got a great taste. If you drink a lot of diet sodas, and are used to artificial sweeteners, you may not even notice.
There was a lot of energy in this beverage, especially for sugar free. I felt my concentration was the most increased, as I become quite aware of my teeth, and how they were positioned in my mouth. I normally am not paying that much attention to them, but driving down the road, I had to find something to concentrate on.
The can is a reasonable size, and should be plenty to quench average thirst, the low 20mg of sodium is also a plus, many lite sodas jack the sodium up to add flavor. If I were still in college, I might try this as a study soda...stay awake, and concentrate.
I've always had the problem that I don't think that sodas are refreshing because I always have to drink water afterwards to get rid of the thick aftertaste. Having said that, I really feel like this was quite refreshing. It really seemed more like Kool Aid. Maybe the Tropical Fruit or Cherry flavor. Not the Kool Aid that you pour three cups of sugar in, but when you actually use the recommended amount. When trying a light or diet drink, I always prepare my self for the heavy artificial sweetener taste, but this very light. I don't think I would've noticed it if I weren't looking for it. That was a very pleasant surprise.
Though I think the flavor was excellent, I think that the energy level was a bit substandard. Maybe that's what the Lite is for. I really enjoyed the bright red teeth that I had afterward. (That was sarcasm) Soda stained teeth always remind me of that kid in school that always had his lips opened, like they were heavy. His teeth were closed, but his lips hung open, like Napoleon Dynamite, and he always had semi dried spit in the corners of his mouth. You can always see the soda stains on his teeth because his mouth was always open.
